We have received complaints from the 'powers to be', that some cab drivers are speeding through this new bit of road. This is particularly stupid, as there are workmen still working on the side of the road, without protection! Don't be an idiot, get rid of that lead shoe. The speed limit is 20 MPH! This is 20 for a reason, do you want to be the first to run over a workman? Heck no! Please be sensible and slow down, it is only a temporary road. One accident and we could all be out of there, going the long way round. Think on! Thank you.... |

You will have noticed that work is ongoing at the old car park site next to the flyover. On Monday 29 June 2009, the flyover will permanently close to general traffic. These are the current dates of operation; Completion of temporary bus/taxi route = end of June. Closure of flyover to all traffic, except BUSES AND TAXIS = 29 June. Temporary bus/taxi route operational and flyover closed to all traffic = from 6 July. No turn from Globe Lane to Medway Street = from 6 July. Centre span of Sir John Hawkins flyover removed 11 and 12 July. Reminder; the new temporary route is for Buses, Taxis/Private Hire and Cycles only. No other traffic will be permitted. Blue and white signs will be displayed allowing buses, cabs and cycles through but no access for general traffic. This will be enforced by the Police. By the end of 2009, the new bus/taxi route on the line of the flyover should be in operation. |

The M.L.T.D.A. would like to be of assistance in addressing the problem of where to purchase the correct extinguisher for your Cab. We currently recommend using Direct Fire & Property Security on Enterprise Close, Enterprise business centre, Medway City Estate, Strood. Ask for Keith or telephone 01634 855 600. A 1 kilo powder unit will cost about £17.50 and a 2 kilo foam unit will be about £25.00. These extinguishers are also available at D & S Auto Spares in the shopping parade at Davis Estate, the spares shop is down in the righthand corner next to the Chemist. |

Just to keep you up to date, we currently have an important meeting, pending in June with Medway Council. This will include Parking, Enforcement from Licensing and also Highways.
