Hackney Carriage Colour Print

As you know, we have applied to Medway Council, at members request, for an alternative colour of METALLIC SILVER for Taxis.

This application has been dutifully acknowledged and we are waiting for the response from a 'full council meeting'. Again, this all takes time!

Membership Print

We would like to thank you all for renewing your 2010 M.L.T.D.A. membership.

We would also recommend those few of you who have not renewed yet, to contact your M.L.T.D.A. reps as membership sales are still ongoing.

As you all know membership can advise you, assist you, protect you and much much more! Don't be a dummy, part with your money - £8.00 per year - that's all it is!

M.L.T.D.A. Open Golf Day Print

Members of the Trade have approached us regarding a GOLF DAY sponsored by your association. Before we go ahead with this, we would like to hear your views.

It would be played annually around mid to late August, when the schools are on holiday, to give everyone out there the chance to compete. We have someone in the Trade who is prepared to organise such an event.

At this moment in time, we are just putting out feelers to see if there would be enough interest generated. We could possibly turn this into a charity event and any monies raised on the day, could go to a charity of your choice.

We would supply a presentation shield, which the winner of the 'event day' keeps for a year and have their name engraved on it with the year of winning. The shield would then be returned at the next M.L.T.D.A. Open Golf Day.

Taxi Forum Meeting Print

This meeting was held at Gun Wharf in April 2010 as an 'all day' event. there were varios demos and presentations on security and safety for drivers. Medway Council are now considering the options available and of course we will let you all know any news as we get it.

The outcome so far is that CCTV will be on a voluntary basis only, as there is no funding currently available at time of going to press.

We would like to thank all the Taxi firm reps that showed support on the day, as the Forum is very important for the Trade in Medway.

Chatham road works Print
As you all know, ongoing prep work on the roads around Globe Lane are continuing to cause chaos! Once the gas main work has been completed, the program for widening The Brook will commence. When that is completed they will start work on our rank to make adjustments and improvements, so that we can then move back into the old Pentagon rank location. Upon completion of the rank, work starts on the new bus station on Globe Lane.
